About the organisation

Part of the large global Gi Group, Gi Group UK provides a wide range of recruitment, HR consultancy and outsourcing services. Serving many industry sectors, Gi Group’s customers include many of the UK’s largest employers. Its mission is to contribute, as a key player and on a global basis, to the evolution of the labour market and to emphasise the personal and social value of work.

The challenge

In line with its parent company’s SAP and Microsoft strategy, Gi Group has managed its finances with Microsoft Navision, maintaining local test and development environments, with the global group owning the production instance. Gi Group’s acquisition policy alerted Gi Group UK to the need to find a partner in the UK and Xpedition was recommended by its parent company in Italy. “We came out of our initial discussions with Xpedition with the confidence they understood our business requirements and had the skills and experience needed to get us where we needed to be with Microsoft Navision.” Martin Gunn, IT Director at Gi Group UK.

Solution

Xpedition hit the ground running and has already helped Gi Group to onboard two acquisitions, migrating data and transactions to Navision and integrating an Accounts Payable package at very short notice. Xpedition’s agreement with Gi Group includes on-going support and maintenance with a time and materials option for project-based work.

Martin adds, “Our relationship with Xpedition is in a great place. They have been able to respond to our needs very quickly and we’ve never had to push to obtain their support. There are many things that keep me awake at night, but thanks to having Xpedition on board, our Microsoft Navision platform is no longer on that list!”

As Gi group continues to grow and acquire businesses, Xpedition will assist in a seamless onboarding of the financial aspects of the mergers and help Gi Group UK to move to the cloud-based solution Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
